Where young makers learn to think like designers

Come prototype with us!

We think elementary age kids are can benefit from design and architecture, in addition to art. So at ProtoToto kids learn design thinking through hands-on projects, sketching, and material exploration. Whether designing tree houses or building geodesic domes, our students gain skills critical for future engineers, designers, and leaders. Our studio is a fun, safe space where creative kids become strategic problem solvers, strong communicators, and confident creators.

After-school is about to get a lot more creative…

Sign up for after-school design programs, each day of the week ProtoToto will offer its own hands-on theme. Enroll in individual 10–12 week sessions or drop in. If we have three or more students from PS 133, PS 38, or Success Academy Cobble Hill, we can provide school pickup. Explore our after-school options here, and feel free to email us with any questions!

The ProtoToto way

ProtoToto teaches design fundamentals through exploration of 2D representation (i.e. drawing), 3D form (model making), materials, color and real-world applications.

Our young designers dive into architecture (sketching and model making), graphic design (visual storytelling, information hierarchy, and typography), and product design (understanding how real life objects come to be).

Each discipline engages new ways of thinking, giving our students a well-rounded creative foundation and valuable life skills.

Studio opening soon!

ProtoToto's new location is scheduled to open in January 2026 on the border of Boerum Hill and Gowanus. Join us for after-school programs, school closure camps, weekend workshops and community events. Please sign up for our newsletter to stay in the know.
